AEO
Two ways AEO differs from SEO
“In AEO, if an LLM's crawler can't read your site, it's invisible. It's all or nothing.”
— Lara Stiris
Two main ways I'm seeing AEO differ from SEO:
- Site optimization is critical. In SEO, if your site was slower or bloated but you had good content, you still got SEO juice. In AEO, if an LLM's crawler can't read your site, it's invisible and not factored into results. It's all or nothing. Good news is it's trivial to generate a readable version of your site using your favorite AI coding tool.
- Consistent language matters. Given a lot of it is still glorified predictive text, using the same words to describe your company/product/entity is important because then your company name is associated with a certain pattern of words. Ultimately, this is just good product marketing in action: get your positioning and messaging buttoned up and use it consistently across all touchpoints to reinforce that message.
“Works for bots...and humans! Win-win.”
